Guardians of the Galaxy:
If Zoe Saldana is not careful, she’s going to end up plagued by nerds for the rest of her life. She apparently must have been jealous of all the time her Star Trek co-star Rachel Nichols spent getting painted green, because she’s reportedly in talks to do the same.
The Hollywood Reporter says Saldana is close to playing Gamora, the bad ass alien lady who has dealt with the big bad Thanos quite a bit (he raised her).

I’m pretty sure that costume is not physically possible outside the imaginations of straight male (and lesbian) nerds, so I’d expect something less swimsuit edition and more practical in the film.
Also, here’s some production art of Rocket Raccoon. Yep. Rocket. Raccoon.
Great. My kids are totally going to want a Rocket Raccoon stuffed toy. Thanks, Disney.
Speaking of Disney and sarcastic thanks, the Mouse shut down Lucasarts and promptly canceled their slate of Star Wars projects.
Staff were informed of the shutdown this morning, according to a reliable Kotaku source. Some 150 people were laid off, and both of the studio’s current projects—Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313—were cancelled. Disney will still use the LucasArts name to license games, but the studio is no more.
They’re going to turn it into a licensing mill instead, slapping the name on whatever project they farm out to developers in whatever plain of hell Disney currently employs as contractors.
Normally, I would probably turn this into an epic rant, but I can sort of see Disney’s side to this. On the one hand, you have a storied development house that put out some great original content like Sam and Max, Monkey Island, X-wing v. Tie Fighter.
And on the other hand, there’s this:
