First off, the sad news in Movieland is that Roger Ebert has passed away at the age of 70 after a long struggle with cancer.

F*** cancer.

I have fond memories of watching his show with Siskel as a child, always hoping they’d the thumbs’ up to movies that interested me, and objecting loudly as only a child could do when they didn’t.

The show’s fourth season returns on Netflix on May 26th.

Anyway, it was a Disney Sci-Fi flick that was mostly memorable for the homicidal robot henchman Maximilian who used a drill to kill a guy:


And that last scene where the evil scientist is in hell with him:


Yeah. That didn’t give 4 year old Dread any nightmares at all.

Well, this time, they’re having the writer of the most recent tedious mess of a sci-fi movie write the remake.

I can’t see how this could possibly go wrong.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Lastly, Latino Review believes that one of the villains of this movie will be the Controller. Who controls people. And TV sets. And RC cars. And TiVO.
