About Deadpool

I thought I might chime in here (aka snipe).  As has already been established, I am a geek of a different stripe and all I know about the XMen and all other comic book characters comes from what I’ve seen on both the little and big screen.  Yes, I’ve held a comic book, and I acknowledge that such media exists, I just never saw the point of reading them.  What have I done with my life?

So with that being said, here’s the all-knowing Wikipedia’s take on Deadpool for those too lazy to look him up for yourself.  After reading this description, I realize why Chris likes him so much.  Deadpool is the comic book manifestation of Chris, our fearless blogger (which is weird because I thought that distinction was given to Gambit long ago).

Deadpool (Wade Winston Wilson) is a fictional character, a mercenary and anti-hero appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool first appeared in The New Mutants #98 (Feb. 1991).

A disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary, Deadpool originally appeared as a villain in an issue of New Mutants, and later in issues of X-Force. The character has since starred in several ongoing series, and shares titles with other characters such as Cable. The character, known as the “Merc with a Mouth”, is famous for his talkative nature and his tendency to “break the fourth wall“, which is used by writers for humorous effect.
