Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens trailer

Okay, sitting here with my five year old son watching this trailer brought back all sorts of fond and pleasant memories and made me feel like a kid again.

Seriously, please do not screw this up, guys.

Nerd News Roundup

Star Wars

The big news comes from Bleeding Cool where they claim that they have a casting breakdown of characters from the upcoming Episode VII.

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

I really hope they’re not following that rumor about Jacen Solo. Because Jacen Solo is just awful.

Also there are some rumors about those spinoff/one-off movies that are slated to happen between the official Episode movies.

The site also says that the first two spin-offs will star Boba Fett and a young(er) Han Solo. We heard previously that these two characters would get their own films in the near future, along with Yoda (whose own movie has apparently been shelved due to an animated LEGO series starring the character). The Han Solo film will reportedly revolve around his friendship with Chewbacca, “potentially on how they met and became partners on the Millennium Falcon.” There are no plot details on the Boba Fett movie right now.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

No more fraking prequels. I don’t need to know how Han met Chewie. Or got the Millennium Falcon. Sweet fracking Buddha… No. Just…. Don’t.

Spider-man Tu-tu

Well, it looks like they’ve cut Mary Jane Watson out of the sequel and will probably introduce her in the 3rd movie. It also appears that they will re-cast the part, no doubt making a lot of internet fanboys very happy, until they find out the name of the next actress and start complaining about her failure to look like this:

Above: Mary Jane Watson; Not seen: realistic portrayal of women

Above: Mary Jane Watson; Not seen: realistic portrayal of women

Given that most people think that this movie will feature (Spoiler alert for a  30 year old comic book story) the death of Gwen Stacy, maybe the director thought that introducing the new girlfriend while the first girlfriend is still warm was bad form.

And here are some set photos of Wolverine on the set of the First Class sequel wearing 70’s attire.
